Does CBD flower get you high? Effects, side effects and what our menu does

In short. As of Oct. 14, 2026, federal health agencies say CBD is not intoxicating like THC, so true CBD flower is not expected to get you high the way THC flower does. It still holds a little THC, and CBD has listed side effects. Our menu is not CBD flower: it is high-THCA hemp flower, and smoked, it gets you high.
Checked Oct. 14, 2026.
Does CBD flower get you high?
Not the way THC flower does. The National Institute on Drug Abuse says plainly that “CBD is not intoxicating like THC” (NIDA). The FDA puts it the other way round: THC “is the component that produces the ‘high’ associated with marijuana use” (FDA).
Two cautions keep that answer honest:
- CBD flower is not THC-free. At the 0.3% line, a gram of dried flower holds 3 mg of THC. Why no flower reaches zero is on CBD flower with no THC.
- Labels can be wrong. NIDA notes that some products marketed as CBD have been found to contain THC, and some have held different amounts of CBD than their labels show. Only the lab report for the lot settles what is in a bag.
What are the side effects of CBD flower?
The agencies list these for CBD in general. NIH’s complementary-health centre adds that several were seen in people taking part in studies of the prescription CBD drug (NCCIH).
| Listed effect | Where it is listed |
|---|---|
| Drowsiness or sleepiness | NIDA, FDA, NCCIH |
| Diarrhea, decreased appetite | NIDA, FDA |
| Vomiting | NIDA |
| Changes in mood, mostly irritability and agitation | FDA |
| Abnormal liver tests, liver injury | FDA, NCCIH |
| Interactions with other drugs | FDA, NCCIH |
| More drowsiness when mixed with alcohol or sedating drugs | FDA |
Smoking adds its own effect. NIDA notes that the smoke from cannabis products “contains many of the same toxins, irritants, and carcinogens as tobacco smoke”. On the drug-interaction line, the FDA says CBD “can affect how other drugs you are taking work, potentially causing serious side effects”.
None of this makes CBD flower a remedy. The FDA has approved one CBD drug, a prescription for seizures in two rare disorders, and has not approved the cannabis plant for any medical use (NCCIH). We make no health claims for any product.
Does CBD flower give you the munchies?
These agency pages do not list a bigger appetite among CBD’s effects. NIDA and the FDA list decreased appetite as a possible CBD side effect. NIDA lists increased appetite as a commonly reported symptom of cannabis use, meaning cannabis with intoxicating amounts of THC. If a bag sold as CBD flower leaves you hungry and high, its THC is worth checking on the lab report.
What does the flower on our menu do?
Something quite different. Every product on our menu is high-THCA hemp flower, not CBD flower. Heat completes the reaction that turns THCA into delta-9 THC, which the USDA’s hemp rule calls “the intoxicating component of cannabis” (7 CFR 990.1). So expect the effects NIDA lists for THC cannabis, not those for CBD:
- It gets you high: NIDA says THC can temporarily alter mood, thoughts and perceptions, and impair thinking, memory and body movement.
- It can raise your heart rate, and many people report a bigger appetite.
- It shows up on THC drug tests.
Why a CBD name sells THCA flower until Dec. 11, 2026 is on CBD flower and THCA. We sell it by the ounce, the quarter pound, the half pound and the pound, to adults 21 and over only.
What should you check before you smoke flower sold as CBD?
- The lab report for the exact lot. Total THC (delta-9 THC plus 0.877 × THCA) at or under 0.3%, a total CBD figure, a contaminant panel and a named lab. Buying CBD flower online lists all seven checks.
- Your state’s rules. State rules on hemp flower differ and change on their own dates. Check them where you take delivery.
- The date. From Dec. 11, 2026, federal law counts THCA in the 0.3% hemp limit (Section 781 of Public Law 119-37; date set by Sec. 2019 of H.R. 6500). This is not legal advice.
For our own menu, the COA for a product’s lot is sent on request, and its THCA % and total THC appear on the product page once the report is on file. We plan to sell CBD and CBG flower here after Dec. 11, 2026.
Our menu today is high-THCA hemp flower, not CBD flower. Smoked, it gets you high and shows up on THC drug tests.

Questions
- Does CBD flower get you high?
