CBD flower with no THC: why no flower is THC-free, and what 0.3% means
In short. There is no CBD flower with zero THC. Plants bred for CBD still make a little THCA and delta-9 THC, so the honest goal is low THC, not none. The federal line is 0.3% by dry weight, and from Dec. 11, 2026 it counts THCA too. Our own menu is not low-THC flower: it is high-THCA hemp flower, and it gets you high.
Checked Oct. 4, 2026.
Why “no THC” flower does not exist
A hemp plant makes its cannabinoids from one parent acid, CBGA. Plants bred for CBD turn most of it into CBDA, but not all of it: a small share becomes THCA. How much depends on genetics, weather and how late the plant is harvested. A Cornell trial of 30 high-CBD cultivars found wide variation in cannabinoid content within and between cultivars, and concluded that breeders still need to deliver plants that stay legally compliant (Stack and colleagues, GCB Bioenergy, 2021).
Products sold as “THC-free” or “broad spectrum” are extracts, where THC was removed in a lab. That is not possible with a dried bud.
What 0.3% looks like in grams
The 0.3% limit is measured on dried flower. It works out to 3 milligrams of THC in every gram.
| Flower weight | THC at exactly 0.3% |
|---|---|
| 1 g | 3 mg |
| 3.5 g | 10.5 mg |
| 28 g (1 oz) | 84 mg |
So low-THC flower still holds a measurable amount of THC. How you react to it, and whether it shows up on a drug test, depends on far more than a label. If you are tested, assume any smokable flower carries a risk.
Delta-9 THC versus total THC
Many labels print only delta-9 THC. That is the THC already present in raw flower, before heating. It leaves out THCA, which becomes THC when the flower is smoked.
The sum that tells you a flower’s real THC is:
Total THC = delta-9 THC + (0.877 × THCA)
USDA uses this same total THC sum for hemp testing (7 CFR 990.1).
| Example label | Delta-9 THC | THCA | Total THC | Under 0.3% total? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| “0.03% THC” low-THC CBD flower | 0.03% | 0.20% | 0.21% | Yes |
| “Under 0.3% delta-9” CBD flower | 0.12% | 0.40% | 0.47% | No |
| High-THCA hemp flower | 0.2% | 22.0% | 19.5% | No |
The figures are worked examples. A “0.03% THC” claim is only meaningful when the THCA line is low too.
What changes on Dec. 11, 2026
As of Oct. 4, 2026, federal law defines hemp by delta-9 THC only (7 U.S.C. 1639o). From Dec. 11, 2026, it counts total THC at 0.3% (P.L. 119-37, sec. 781, with the date set by H.R. 6500). The second row in the table stops being hemp that day. The law also adds a 0.4 mg total THC limit per container for final hemp products; how it applies to packaged flower is not settled (CRS IF13136). State rules can be stricter than federal ones, and some states restrict smokable hemp of any kind.
What we sell, plainly
We do not sell low-THC or CBD flower today. Every product on our menu is hemp THCA flower with its THCA % and total THC printed beside the price, and those totals are far above 0.3%. If you came here looking for flower with as little THC as possible, our menu is not for you yet. We plan to sell CBD and CBG flower here after Dec. 11, 2026.
Our menu today is high-THCA hemp flower, not CBD flower. Smoked, it gets you high and shows up on THC drug tests.

Questions
- Is there CBD flower with no THC?
- No smokable flower is THC-free. Plants bred for CBD still make a little THCA and delta-9 THC. Low-THC is possible; zero is not. Products sold as THC-free are extracts with the THC removed, not flower.
- What does 0.3% THC mean on CBD flower?
- It is the federal hemp limit, measured on dried flower. 0.3% is 3 milligrams of THC per gram. From Dec. 11, 2026 it counts total THC (delta-9 THC plus 0.877 times THCA), not delta-9 alone.
- Is CBD flower with 0.03% THC real?
- A label showing 0.03% usually means delta-9 THC only, before heating. Check the THCA line too: total THC is delta-9 plus 0.877 times THCA, and that is the figure that counts after Dec. 11, 2026.
- Is the flower on this site low-THC?
- No. Our menu today is high-THCA hemp flower, with total THC far above 0.3%. Smoked, it gets you high and shows up on THC drug tests.
